Green Vibrance vs Athletic Greens: Introductions

What is Green Vibrance?

Green Vibrance is one of the oldest greens supplements, released over 30 years ago in 1992! It is made to support the company’s recognized “four pillars of health”: nutrition, circulation, digestion, and immunity.

It has 70+ ingredients and now comes in three different flavors.

This supplement comes as a green powder and in capsule form. They recommend taking it 45 minutes after a meal for the best absorption.

What is Athletic Greens?

Athletic Greens, newly named AG1, is a popular super greens supplement known for its 75 ingredients. AG1 only comes in one flavor, and is actually one of the only supplements sold by the company (they offer supplements to pair with AG1 to fill nutrient gaps).

Athletic Greens focuses on their identified “five crucial areas of health”: energy, immunity, gut health, hormonal and neural support, and healthy aging.

Athletic Greens Overview

They rebranded to capture all of the beneficial ingredients in the blend, instead of just focusing on the greens

Green Vibrance vs Athletic Greens: Ingredients Breakdown

vibrant health green vibrance vs athletic greens

Green Vibrance

As mentioned above, Green Vibrance has full transparency in labeling so you can see the weight of each ingredient.

The ingredients in this product are split into nine categories. This includes cereal grasses, plant-based micro-nutrition, antioxidant life preservers, immune support, adaptogens, skeletal support, fiber, enzymes and tonics, and probiotics.

One standout ingredient is the high amount of probiotics in this blend – 25 billion CFU! This category is made of 10 different types of probiotics.

One thing that I noticed about Green Vibrance is that while there are tons of ingredients, the portions of many of them per serving are very low.

This means the nutrient density of each ingredient (and 11g scoop) is pretty low, leaving you with lower nutritional benefits. You may need to double your dosage to reap the most benefits.

I also wouldn’t recommend the capsules because of this same reason. One serving of the capsules is already 16 capsules per day! So you may even have to have more than that to fulfill some nutrient needs.

Athletic Greens

While Athletic Greens is a proprietary blend, meaning it doesn’t list the specific amount of each ingredient. It does list the weight of each of its ingredient complexes.

These different complex categories include the superfood complex, the extract, herbs, and antioxidant complex, the enzyme and mushroom complex, and probiotics.

While this blend only has 7.2 billion CFU of probiotics coming from two different strains, it may actually be more tolerable for consumers. Eating too many probiotics can cause bloating and other digestive issues.

Based on its nutrition panel, Athletic Greens offers more nutrients per serving than Green Vibrance for many vitamins and minerals

For example, AG1 offers 917% of your daily value of Vitamin B12, while Green Vibrance only offers 83%.

Green Vibrance vs Athletic Greens: Taste Test

green supplements

Green Vibrance Taste

Green vibrance is often talked about for its grassy, metallic taste. Many customers state they needed a lot of time to get used to it. Others had to mix it into other recipes to consume.

They do offer two new flavors, but reviewers still mentioned it was hard to drink alone with just water.

While they do offer capsules that will have less flavor and can be taken more quickly, you need to take 16 of them per day to reach the serving recommendation. In my opinion, that’s a lot.

Athletic Greens Taste

Athletic Greens has stevia to help flavor their product, as well as the natural essences of vanilla and pineapple.

Many customers like the taste and drink this with just cold water alone. As with most super greens, though, some disagreed and think the flavor is still pretty earthy.

On their website, Athletic Greens does mention that the texture and flavor of each product can change from month to month due to “the weather conditions or even where [the ingredients or live probiotics] are sourced, much in the same way the taste of wine is influenced by the terroir of the vineyard.

Comparison of Side Effects and Safety

Green Vibrance and AG1 both recommend checking with a doctor before taking if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on any prescription medication. Both are also not recommended for children.

Both products contain live probiotics, Green Vibrance almost four times more than AG1. While these probiotics can promote good gut health over time, they can cause bloating, nausea, and other digestive issues, especially at first. You may need to reduce the serving size to grow accustomed to it.

It’s also important to keep in mind that these probiotics can cause more harm than good for anyone with immunodeficiencies or illnesses.

Green Vibrance vs Athletic Greens: Which Is the Best Option?

Although Athletic Greens is more expensive, I still think it’s the best option to invest in.

AG1 is much more nutrient dense. It already includes many of the same ingredients as Green Vibrance, plus a few more ingredients and micronutrients per serving.

It also has a better reported taste than Green Vibrance and is better for more dietary preferences. It is also free of more allergens than Green Vibrance, and it’s certified by the NSF for athletes, is keto-friendly, and is paleo-friendly.

Why We Think AG Is the Better Option

After this comprehensive review, Athletic Greens is the better choice.

If you’re looking for a supplement with the most benefits, it’s AG1. It’s the better option based on its comprehensive list of ingredients, nutrient density, taste, and proven health benefits for gut function, energy, recovery, chronic diseases, and more.

If you want to try AG1 for yourself, click here!

Final Thoughts on Green Vibrance vs Athletic Greens

All in all, both of these greens supplements are a good option to help you fill any nutrient gaps.

That being said, no matter what supplement you choose, you shouldn’t completely replace fruits and vegetables in your diet.

Whole produce not only offers vitamins and minerals, but it provides hydration, fiber, and other benefits that these supplements don’t.

So, use these supplements as just that- a supplement.
