Workout supplements made by bodybuilding icons or well-known athletes can be very intriguing. But you shouldn’t instantly trust that these products will work just because of someone’s popularity.

Thus, you will only be recommended truly worthwhile supplements.

So, continue reading this CBUM Thavage Pre Workout review to learn about the features, ingredients, possible benefits, safety concerns, and more.

By the end, you’ll see if CBUM Thavage is genuinely worth buying!

About Raw Nutrition/CBUM Thavage

CBUM Thavage is made by Raw Nutrition in partnership with Chris Bumstead.

Raw Nutrition is a supplement company created to give athletes the specific fuel they need for optimal training and performance.

Their mission is to make nutrition and supplementation simple and convenient. They do this by only using top-notch formulas based on the purest, most effective ingredients.

Those who know Bumstead well can see the influence in the “Thavage” name. After all, Bumstead has a lisp, so they wanted to name the product how he pronounces “savage.”

Who is Chris Bumstead?

Chris Bumstead is a widely-known bodybuilder, weightlifter, and general fitness influencer. He is a four-time Classic Physique Mr. Olympia champion and has amassed over 13 million followers on Instagram.

Bumstead has an influence on many of the Raw Nutrition products, too. In fact, he said that he personally designed the flavors in CBUM Thavage.

What is CBUM Thavage?

CBUM Thavage is a pre-workout designed to take your workouts to the next level. It is one of a couple of other supplements in the CBUM Raw Nutrition series, such as CBUM Ghost Legend.

This pre-workout contains many of the most popular and scientifically-supported pre-workout ingredients. It includes citrulline, beta-alanine, betaine, Alpha-GPC, and tyrosine.

With this formula, CBUM Thavage claims to reduce fatigue, helping lifters train harder, for longer. It’s also made to increase pumps, maximize energy, and promote mental focus, thus offering a boatload of enticing benefits for dedicated athletes.

Not to mention, CBUM Thavage comes in six different flavors that some customers say will help you actually enjoy your pre-workout drink.

Who is CBUM Thavage best for?

CBUM Thavage Pre Workout Review

Like all CBUM supplements, Thavage is ideal for weightlifters, bodybuilders, and other athletes looking for increased performance in the gym.

It may be a good choice for people who want extra motivation, strength, and energy for their workouts.

CBUM Thavage is also made for people looking for a variety of tasty flavors and who don’t want to risk getting bored with one pre-workout over time.

Things To Consider Before Buying CBUM Thavage

CBUM Thavage Pre Workout isn’t a one-size-fits-all pre-workout. Things to consider before buying CBUM Thavage include the type of exercise you do, the caffeine content, controversial ingredients, pricing/budget, and overall formulation.

Type of Exercise Performed

CBUM Thavage is designed for lifters and other athletes doing resistance training. It is best for people who are using heavy weights and going through grueling, intense lifting sessions.

Caffeine Content

There is a lot of caffeine in CBUM Thavage. Just one scoop has 130 mg of caffeine anhydrous and 32mg of dicaffeine malate, so that’s 162 mg of caffeine per scoop.

This can be good if you need a lot of energy and motivation. But be cautious if you’re sensitive to stimulants. You don’t want to take this any time after the late afternoon, or even late morning if you’re particularly sensitive to caffeine’s sleep-disrupting effects.

Bitter Orange: A Controversial Ingredient

Another thing to consider is that CBUM Thavage has bitter orange, which contains p-synephrine.

This ingredient has been shown to increase blood pressure and heart rate to high levels. It is also banned by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). You shouldn’t use this supplement if you’re a college athlete.

Contains Beta-Alanine

Another ingredient that may turn some people off is beta-alanine. This is because it can cause a tingling sensation.

While this is harmless, some people may simply not like this feeling and would rather not have this ingredient.

Pricing/Budget

The pricing for this CBUM Raw Nutrition supplement really depends on if you use one or two scoops.

If you use one scoop, you’ll pay around $1.25 per serving, but this doubles to $2.50/serving if you use two scoops. So, you’ll want to pay attention to the ingredients and dosages to see how much you need to benefit from this supplement.

I’ll talk about all of this throughout this CBUM Thavage pre-workout review to give you a better idea of the serving size you need.

Overall Formulation

There are many different ingredients in CBUM Thavage. This formula has tyrosine, beta-alanine, betaine, citrulline, caffeine, theanine, vitamins, minerals, and more.

Therefore, it seems like a solid choice for gym-goers who are looking for a very well-rounded pre-workout. However, you may want to look into something else if you’re looking for a very high-dosed product of only a select few ingredients.

Transparency

Lastly, CBUM Thavage has a fully transparent label, so you know exactly how much of each ingredient you’re getting. This tells us more about the potential effectiveness and safety.

CBUM Thavage Features

CBUM Thavage Pre Workout features

This section of my CBUM Thavage Pre Workout review goes over all of the main features of this pre-workout. Here’s what makes it stand out from some other pre-workout supplements.

Engineered with Trusted Ingredients

Let’s face it: so many pre-workouts out there have questionable ingredients that may not work. You don’t want to waste your hard-earned money on something that doesn’t produce.

Plus, using unresearched ingredients might also mean an increased risk of side effects and other safety concerns.

The CBUM Thavage formula claims to include only the best, most well-researched ingredients that are truly effective.

For example, this formula has tyrosine, beta-alanine, betaine, citrulline, caffeine, and many other ingredients that are proven to increase workout performance.

And this is vital given it’s an industry that is flooded with useless and/or unsafe ingredients. CBUM may actually give you the benefits you’re looking for so you don’t waste your money.

Contains 15 Active Ingredients & Additional Vitamins and Minerals

CBUM Thavage features

If you’re a high-performing athlete or bodybuilder, you can’t take any shortcuts. Just one bad workout could set you back from the competition and make it harder to reach your goals.

That’s why CBUM Thavage is designed with 15 active ingredients plus additional vitamins and minerals. This well-rounded formulation may help you increase ALL aspects of your workout performance, rather than just one or two.

This means that you could see increases in energy, endurance, strength, pumps, mental focus, and more. You can crush your workout and leave the gym feeling satisfied and confident that you’re on the right path.

Endurance and Blood Flow Maximization

Workouts can be a grind sometimes. Nobody likes the feeling of cutting a workout short due to fatigue or exhaustion.

Sometimes, you need a little boost when your regular nutrition and lifestyle don’t get the job done.

CBUM Thavage claims to increase muscular endurance and maximize blood flow to the muscle. This is due to citrulline, beta-alanine, Nitrosigine®, and other research-backed ingredients.

These may reduce your fatigue and maximize energy and muscle pumps, so you can train through your entire lift with full force and tenacity.

Muscle Strength and Power Optimization

While getting bigger isn’t only the result of getting stronger, there is a clear connection between your strength levels and muscle mass.

As a weightlifter, few things are as defeating as being stuck on a strength plateau for months on end. You try to do everything you can to increase the weight, but the numbers just won’t budge.

Well, CBUM Thavage claims to enhance your muscle strength and power so you can finally see those numbers go up. This is due to betaine, caffeine, and other potent ingredients.

The claim is that they help ramp up your muscles and nervous system to deliver unmatched force and power.

Six Different Flavor Options

There’s no way around it – many pre-workouts taste awful. And if you buy from companies that only have one flavor, you’re more likely to switch brands a lot.

But CBUM Thavage comes in six different flavors. This increases the likelihood that you’ll find one that matches your taste buds. After all, pre-workouts in this day and age really should be able to taste at least somewhat good.

Ingredients for Focus and Energy

cbum raw nurition features

As you get more experienced with weightlifting and bodybuilding, you likely realize how important the mental aspect of training is.

Lack of motivation, poor focus, or low mood can all deteriorate your gym performance and keep you from making progress.

CBUM Thavage claims to act as an antidote to all of these issues by rapidly increasing focus, energy, and motivation.

The formula includes a potent dose of caffeine, as well as alpha-GPC, theanine, and tyrosine. It’s this combo that is supposed to give you the drive and willpower to crush your workouts and truly enjoy the process of training.

Does CBUM Thavage really work?

So, does CBUM Thavage really work?

After analyzing this supplement, I can confidently say that CBUM Thavage can be an effective pre-workout for some people.

As always, individual results may vary. Results also depend on various factors, such as the dose you use, body weight, training experience, and general lifestyle.

Overall, CBUM Thavage is formulated with several very well-researched ingredients. And with the transparent label, I can see that most of these are dosed properly (particularly when using two scoops).

CBUM Thavage Ingredients

There are 15 active ingredients and other vitamins and minerals in CBUM Thavage.

Here are all of the CBUM ingredients:

  • L-Citrulline
  • Betaine Anhydrous
  • L-Tyrosine
  • Alpha GPC (Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline 50%)
  • Huperzine A (H. serrata) (whole herb) Extract
  • Nitrosigine® (Inositol-Enhanced Bonded Arginine Silicate)
  • Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium) Fruit Extract (6% Synephrine)
  • Caffeine Anhydrous
  • Taurine
  • Beta-Alanine
  • Agmatine Sulfate
  • AstraGin (Astragalus membranaceus & Panax notoginseng) Root extracts
  • Coconut fruit water powder
  • L-Theanine
  • Di-Caffeine Malate
  • Vitamins: C, B6, and B12
  • Electrolytes: Sodium and Potassium

Other Ingredients include:

Citric Acid, Natural flavors, Malic Acid, Calcium Silicate, Silicon Dioxide, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, Fruit and Vegetable Powder (color).

Now, let’s get into these ingredients and see what benefits they may have.

Note: Dosages are based on two scoops (halve these if using just one scoop):

L-Citrulline (6,000mg)

cbum ingredients

L-citrulline is an amino acid that can increase arginine and nitric oxide levels. This may increase blood flow, oxygen, and nutrients to the muscles, which could help during exercise.

Research shows that citrulline supplementation can increase muscular endurance and strength, reduce fatigue, and improve recovery.

Effective dosage according to Examine: 3.4 to 4.5g (based on 6 to 8g of citrulline malate)

Betaine Anhydrous (2,500mg)

Betaine anhydrous is one of the most common supplemented forms of betaine (or trimethylglycine).

This compound is found in beetroot and other sources. Betaine helps to increase muscle cell hydration and also reduces lactate buildup (a marker of fatigue). Plus, it may increase creatinine levels and protein synthesis, as well as growth hormone.

Betaine seems effective for improving muscular endurance, but the benefits for strength and power are somewhat mixed. Even still, it has great potential.

Effective dosage according to Examine: 2.5g

L-Tyrosine (2,000mg)

L-tyrosine is an amino acid and a precursor to dopamine and noradrenaline (two neurotransmitters/brain chemicals).

Since dopamine and noradrenaline are depleted during stress (which includes exercise) tyrosine is thought to improve stress resistance.

In fact, research does show that tyrosine supplementation may increase performance during stressful situations, in part by restoring dopamine and noradrenaline.

Effective dosage based on research: 500 to 2,000mg

Alpha-GPC (Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline 50%) (400mg)

Alpha-GPC is a choline compound that may increase acetylcholine (a brain chemical) levels.

Acetylcholine is involved in focus, concentration, and other cognitive functions. Additionally, it helps send signals for muscular contractions.

There is some evidence, such as this study, which shows alpha-GPC improves strength, power, and reaction time. But not all studies show benefits.

Effective dosage according to data: 300 to 600 mg

Huperzine A (H. serrata) (whole herb) Extract (100mcg)

Huperzine A is a compound derived from Huperzia serrata (or toothed clubmoss).

This compound has been shown to increase cognition in people with brain disorders, which is attributed to the increase in acetylcholine.

However, the research doesn’t support the use of Huperzine A to increase exercise performance or cognition during exercise. Still, there are anecdotal benefits for athletes.

Effective dosage (for general acetylcholine increase): 50 to 200 mcg

Nitrosigine® (Inositol-Enhanced Bonded Arginine Silicate) (1,500mg)

Nitrosigine® is a trademarked form of inositol-enhanced bonded arginine silicate. Or, for those who just want to know the basics, this is essentially an arginine compound.

Nitrosigine® increases arginine and nitric oxide levels, which improves blood flow. It seems to increase energy, muscle pumps, performance, and recovery.

Effective dosage according to the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition: 1,500mg

Bitter Orange (Citrus aurantium) Fruit Extract (6% Synephrine) (100mg)

Bitter orange contains a unique substance called synephrine, which acts as a sort of stimulant.

There is evidence that synephrine increases fat burning during exercise, but it doesn’t seem to have much of an effect on athletic performance.

Effective dosage according to Examine: 10 to 20mg (3x/day) or 50mg as an acute dose

Caffeine Anhydrous (260mg)

CBUM Thavage ingredients

Caffeine anhydrous is a powdered form of caffeine used in many pre-workouts. Caffeine has energizing and stimulating effects on the muscles and nervous system.

It can reduce adenosine and increase dopamine, noradrenaline, serotonin, and other brain chemicals.

There have been many studies done on caffeine, most of which show benefits for endurance, strength, energy, and fatigue reduction. It may also boost focus, particularly when paired with theanine.

However, these effects diminish over prolonged, repeated use due to a tolerance buildup.

Effective dosage according to research: 3 to 6 mg/kg of body weight (around 150 to 600 mg for most people)

Taurine (2,000mg)

Taurine is an amino acid with many unique functions relevant to weightlifting. It can increase antioxidants and decrease inflammation.

Plus, taurine may reduce lactate (a marker of fatigue) and muscle damage while also improving muscle cell hydration.

Current evidence shows that taurine is effective for increasing muscle endurance, boosting strength, reducing fatigue, and improving recovery.

Effective dosage gathered from studies: Anywhere from 1 to 6g

Beta-Alanine (3,200mg)

Beta-alanine is another amino acid that can increase carnosine concentrations in the muscle. This is important since carnosine plays a role in muscle contractions.  It also may reduce lactic acid build-up to reduce fatigue.

Beta-alanine seems especially helpful for increasing exercise capacity, although it may improve strength and endurance, too.

Effective dosage based on data: 3.2 to 6.4g

Agmatine Sulfate (1,000mg)

Agmatine sulfate is derived from arginine. It may have pain-reducing properties while also boosting cognition. But there isn’t any really solid evidence showing it can benefit weightlifting performance.

Effective dosage: N/A

AstraGin® (Astragalus membranaceus & Panax notoginseng) Root extracts (25mg)

AstraGin® is a trademarked form of astragalus root and Panax ginseng. This ingredient is typically used to increase the digestion and absorption of other ingredients, thus improving their effects.

Effective dosage according to European Food Safety Authority Journal: up to 35mg

Coconut Fruit Water Powder (500mg)

Coconut fruit is rich in electrolytes, such as sodium, magnesium, and potassium. This may help hydrate the body and muscles, although it doesn’t seem that much better than plain water alone.

However, it may be more effective when going through intense, long-lasting bouts of exercise.

L-Theanine (150mg)

L-theanine is an amino acid found in green tea known for its calming properties. This compound increases alpha waves in the brain, which may produce a calm, alert brain state.

Research shows that theanine can improve cognitive performance, particularly when used with caffeine. It may also reduce stress and anxiety.

Effective dosage according to research: 100 to 200mg, usually with caffeine

Di-Caffeine Malate (64 mg)

Di-caffeine malate is another caffeine source. It’s believed to be released more slowly in the body, thus having longer-lasting effects.

That said, there isn’t any research to judge if di-caffeine malate is particularly useful for exercise.

Vitamins: C (250mg), B6 (10mg), and B12 (100mcg)

There are also three vitamins in CBUM Thavage.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant and could help reduce exercise-induced inflammation.

Meanwhile, vitamins B6 and B12 may provide an energy increase due to their roles in energy metabolism.

Altogether, these three vitamins don’t add very much overall value to this pre-workout, unless you’re deficient.

Effective dosages based on research:

  • Vitamin C: N/A
  • Vitamin B12: 100 to 1,000mcg to correct a deficiency
  • Vitamin B6: N/A

Electrolytes: Sodium (200mg) and Potassium (150mg)

Sodium and potassium are key electrolyte minerals needed for muscle contractions, nervous system function, and other aspects related to exercise.

Most athletes aren’t at risk of depleting these minerals if dietary intake is sufficient. Even so, supplementing could help prevent cramping, headache, or fatigue in people that are deficient due to high-intensity exercise lasting for prolonged periods.

Available Flavors

CBUM Thavage currently comes in six flavors:

Health Benefits of CBUM Thavage

This CBUM Thavage review continues with an illustration of the main health benefits. While no benefits are guaranteed, it may give users the following effects:

  • Improved Workout Performance
  • Increase Energy
  • Greater Cellular Hydration
  • Boosted Mental Focus
  • Improve Blood Flow/Circulation
  • Fat Loss
  • Enhanced  Muscle Endurance and Strength
  • Decreased Muscle Soreness
  • Improved Mood

Improved Workout Performance

cbum supplements benefits

As explained in my ingredient breakdown, CBUM Thavage has many well-researched ingredients that can improve all-around workout performance.

This includes caffeine, citrulline, beta-alanine, and betaine, among several others.

Increased Energy

Many of the ingredients in here can possibly increase energy, most notably caffeine. Tyrosine may help boost energy, too. This could help you fight off fatigue and get through long workouts with more ease.

Improved Cellular Hydration

A few ingredients in CBUM Thavage might increase cellular hydration, such as betaine and taurine.

In turn, enhanced muscle hydration may help increase exercise endurance and prevent you from tiring out earlier.

Boosted Mental Focus

CBUM Thavage Pre Workout could also boost mental focus since it has ingredients that increase acetylcholine, such as alpha-GPC.

Plus, theanine promotes a state of alert calm which could improve focus and concentration too.

Improved Blood Flow/Circulation

CBUM Thavage benefits

Citrulline and Nitrosigine® are key ingredients in CBUM Thavage that may increase blood flow to the muscles and overall circulation. This is due to their effects on nitric oxide.

And this could not only give you better pumps, but it may also improve performance and maximize recovery by giving nutrients to the muscles more rapidly.

Fat Loss

It’s also possible that CBUM Thavage Pre Workout helps you shred fat. This is mainly due to the bitter orange/synephrine, which seems to stimulate fat-burning during exercise.

This could become particularly important if you’re a bodybuilder nearing the end stages of competition when fat loss is vital.

Improved Muscle Endurance and Strength

CBUM Thavage Pre Workout also may increase muscle endurance and strength. There are many ingredients that seem to help increase exercise capacity, such as beta-alanine, caffeine, and betaine.

This is important because it’s not just how much weight you can lift for one set. You need to be able to consistently operate at a high level throughout your whole workout if you want the best results.

Decreased Muscle Soreness

Another possible benefit of this pre-workout is decreased muscle soreness.

This effect is attributed not only to citrulline and Nitrosigine®, which can promote recovery by increasing blood flow. It also comes down to taurine and vitamin C, which can decrease inflammation and oxidative stress.

Improved Mood

CBUM Thavage Pre Workout benefits

Lastly, CBUM Thavage could put you in a better mood due to its effects on brain chemicals such as dopamine, noradrenaline, and serotonin.

Many ingredients, including caffeine, tyrosine, and theanine could help you face your workouts with more drive and enthusiasm. This could help down the line when your workouts get tougher and tougher.

CBUM Thavage Verdict

That wraps up my CBUM Thavage review.

There are so many pre-workout supplements out there. And as a lifter or bodybuilder, it’s tough to choose the one that best suits your needs.

CBUM Thavage definitely seems to be one of the top-tier pre-workouts on the market today. It is loaded with several well-researched, science-backed ingredients, many of which are the most popular on the market today.
