What's inside
Here is my honest review of Found weight loss in September 2023.
Weight loss is a challenging topic. There are different things that can affect weight loss, such as age, gender, hormones, and activity levels. It can also increase physiological stress, which can make it even harder to lose weight.
As a Registered Dietitian, I always encourage making lifestyle changes to achieve the desired goals.
But, what happens if that is not enough?
Evidence suggests, that in some cases, medication can help increase weight loss by 5 to 10%. Making it easier for people to achieve their goals and keep the weight off (as long as they keep their new habits).
In this case, a program like Found weight loss can be the perfect combination of making lifestyle changes and medication to help you reach your goals.
In this article, we’ll go over the detail of Found weight loss, to understand how it can be the perfect solution for those who need a combination of medication and lifestyle changes to promote weight loss.
Found Weight Loss is a program intended to help you sustainably lose weight.
About Found
Found was founded in 2019 by Emily Yodofsky, Swathy Prithivi, and Jack Abraham.
The goal was to create a program with a sustainable and accessible approach to weight loss. They didn’t want to give users fast results from yo-yo dieting, preferring slower results with a bigger impact.
The founders thought weight loss shouldn’t be only weight-focused. Other factors affect your weight loss journey like sleep, stress, exercise, and in some cases, medical conditions.
As their mission states:
“At Found, we are dedicated to improving people’s overall wellbeing by making evidence-based weight loss accessible & affordable for all.”
Key Found experts
One of the many benefits of Found weight loss is that it has several experts to make it a science-based program.
They are all board-certified doctors and are trained in weight loss medications. They are here to make any necessary adjustments for the program to adapt to your needs and not the other way around.
So, who are some of the doctors behind Found weight loss?
- Dr. Judith Korner, MD, PhD. (Chief medical advisor)
- Dr. Larry Cheskin, MD. (Medical advisor)
- Dr. Shawn Cole, MD, MS, MHA. (Medical director)
As you can see, you are in good hands.
What is Found Weight Loss?
The founders behind Found weight loss program are Emily Yodofsky and Jack Abraham. They wanted to create a program to stop people from thinking of weight loss as a short-term results, but more as a long-term goal.
It is a complete weight loss program which not only focuses on nutrition, but it also pays attention to sleep, hormones, stress management, psychology, and a person’s biology to help them lose weight.
One of the biggest benefits of Found, is that is also create a community for people to get the necessary support to create long-lasting results.
Additionally, you also get support from a health coach to help you keep accountable, motivated and guide you through the process.
This sounds very simple, but in reality, Found weight loss is a very complex and complete system to help you achieve your goals.
Let’s take a closer look at the science behind the method.
The Science Behind The Method
While the principle of caloric deficit (eating fewer calories than the body needs) is still the key to weight loss, it is bit more complex than that.
Evidence suggests that there are several things that can affect weight loss such as the metabolism, genes, gut health, hormones, medication, and nerubiology.
Let’s analyze how each of these areas can affect weight loss.
- Metabolism. The metabolism is how many calories the body burns by itself. Certain foods (like green tea) can slightly increase the metabolism helping you burn more calories. So, the food, history with dieting, and other factors can how fast of slow your metabolism is.
- Genes. Certain genes can play a crucial role in fat accumulation. Now, this doesn’t mean that only because you have certain genes, you are never going to lose weight. It means it might be more challenging but never impossible.
- Gut health. The gut microbiome seems to play an essential role in weight loss. Research shows that having more bad bacteria in the body might make it harder to lose weight.
- Hormones. Some hormones might make it more likely for fat accumulation. For example, it seems that high levels of insulin might lead to weight gain.
- Medication. Even though it is not necessary, some medications might help promote weight loss by reducing appetite or increasing the metabolism.
- Neurobiology. Finally, how the brain works can also affect weight loss. How we manage stress or anxiety has a crucial role.
Found Weight Loss is a program intended to help you sustainably lose weight.
Found Weight Loss Prescription Medication
One of the things that makes Found weight loss stand out over other weight loss programs is the fact it uses medication along with other lifestyle changes to promote weight loss.
For that reason, let’s take a closer look at how prescription medication can help you achieve weight loss.
The type of medication depends on the analysis made by the doctor. But, here are some of the ways they can help you lose weight.
- Reduces cravings, which makes you eat smaller portions and snack less.
- It can help speed up the metabolism by activating your central nervous system.
- More stable sugar levels. This helps promote more stable energy levels and fewer cravings.
- It can prevent your cells from absorbing fat. Thus, reducing fat accumulation.
Who Found Isn’t For?
Found weight loss is not ideal for those who are looking for fast results. If want a quick fix, and not work on your lifestyle habits, this is not the right option for you.
Additionally, if you are looking for a structured eating plan, or a service to provide the meals for you, again this is not the right place.
Finally, if you have some concerns about taking medication for weight loss, this is not the program. While not everyone is going to need medication, if the doctor prescribes it, you should follow their recommendations.
What is Found’s approach for weight loss?
There are three approaches to the weight loss program. While they might have some similarities, they have some key differences that will determine which path you should take.
So, let’s talk more in depth about them.
Rx Path
The Rx Path is available only in 37 states since it provides you with medical guidance. It is for those with a medical condition who need certain medications to aid in weight loss.
Unfortunately, Found does not provide a full list of the medications they use until you’re working with their doctor. You can read about some of the available medications here.
However, I can say from experience looking into similar programs that they’re probably hunger suppressants.
These FDA-approved drugs decrease your hunger levels, helping you lose weight faster and more effectively.
As a Registered Dietitian, I don’t like my clients relying on medication to achieve their goals. At the same time, they are necessary in some cases to get people on track.
Once you sign up, you can create a call with a doctor for them to guide you through which medication is the one for you. They will also check in to see if the medication and the dosage are working.
If you need an adjustment or a change in the medication, they will guide you through the process.
If the doctor determines you no longer need the drug (or in case you no longer want it), you can switch to the Wellness Path.
On top of the medication, you get access to the Facebook group, one-on-one health coaching, a nutrition plan, and an exercise plan.
Rx Path Available States
RX Path is only available in the following states:
- Alaska
- Alabama
- California
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Florida
- Georgia
- Hawaii
- Illinois
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Maine
- Massachusetts
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Montana
- Nebraska
- New York
- North Carolina
- Ohio
- Oklahoma
- Oregon
- Pennsylvania
- Rhode Island
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Utah
- Vermont
- Virginia
- Wisconsin
- Washington
- Wyoming
If you are outside one of these states, you can opt to follow the Wellness Path. The Wellness Path doesn’t require a qualified doctor since you are not taking any medication.
Wellness Path
The Wellness Path Program is for those that don’t require any medication.
You get access to the Facebook group, your own coach, and a nutrition and exercise plan.
As you can see, the only difference between the Wellness and the RX Program is that in the Rx Program, you get medication. In this one, you don’t.
Taking advantage of the coach will play a crucial role in your results. Like I always tell my clients: the more communication you have with your coach, the better results you will get.
If you are not a fan of texting or asking questions, then this is not the right program for you.
The coach guides you along your journey. If you’re having trouble meal prepping, they can send you some options on how to do it.
If you’re having trouble with healthy snacks, they might send you a YouTube video on how to make sweet snacks.
Not only are they there to guide you, but to help you keep accountable and motivate you throughout the journey.
Finally, the Facebook community allows you to share and read about other people’s progress. This can encourage you to try that new recipe they posted or realize you are on the same journey as them with similar struggles.
Remember that weight loss is not always linear. In most cases, there’s a relapse. Having a community sharing love and support can help you get back on track.
Found Weight Loss is a program intended to help you sustainably lose weight.
Is Found Weight Loss legit?
Yes, Found is a legitimate company with board-certified doctors providing support and counseling on the program.
However, it is not for those that want to lose weight fast. It aims to create long-lasting and sustainable results.
While you might not lose a lot of weight in the beginning, lifestyle changes encourage weight loss in the long run instead.
This is preferable to the disappointment of losing progress that only lasts a couple of months.
Things to Consider Before Joining Found Weight Loss
Before you decide to sign up, there are a couple of things you need to consider about this program.
Here are some questions I would ask myself to determine if this program is for me.
Are you ready to make lifestyle changes?
If you are looking for something fast to help you get rid of those extra couple of pounds, you don’t need to read any more Found weight loss program reviews.
Fast results are not sustainable. In the end, you will return to your old habits, encouraging weight gain again.
The program focuses on creating lifestyle changes to help you keep your weight off. So, it might take a couple of weeks or months to see any significant change.
Let me assure you it might take longer, but it is more gratifying and healthier for your body (and mind).
Do you like to be involved in a community?
One of the biggest things about this program is that it offers you to be part of a community.
You can share, react, or comment on people’s posts.
Social support and encouragement are huge missing pieces of the puzzle for a lot of us.
For those that want to have that extra support, it allows you to interact with people who relate to what you’re going through.
Do you like communicating via SMS?
Texting your coach is one of the biggest parts of the process. If you don’t text your coach, there is no way for them to provide you feedback or guidance.
As mentioned before, the more you communicate with a coach, the better results you will get.
If texting someone is not the thing for you, then this is not the program for you.
Are you willing to make adjustments in your sleep, exercise, and stress?
Finally, since this is a holistic approach to weight loss, you will need to make some changes in your sleep, exercise, and stress management.
They all play a key role in your weight loss process and how to keep it off long-term.
If you’re not keen on making a change on any of these things, save your money and look elsewhere.
Are you ok with taking prescription medication if required?
Finally, ask yourself if you are willing to take prescription medication.
While in some cases the doctor might not recommend any medication, in the majority of situations, people might need an appetite suppressant or any other medication that can make it easier to achieve their goals.
After all, most people who join have already tried exercise and diet alone.
If you are not willing to take prescription medication, this it not the program for you.
How does Found Weight Loss work?
First, you need to get an evaluation with a board-certified doctor to determine which is the path for you (with medication or not).
Second, the doctor determines which type of medication you need. In some cases, you might need a hunger suppressant. In other cases, you might need medication to control your glucose levels. They offer 13 types of medication depending on your requirements.
Finally, you get assigned to your new health coach. They will provide you with guidance and motivation in this journey. They help create your new diet plan and any other action plan you need to help you reach your goals.
The health coach also helps create strategies for your sleep, exercise, and stress. This ensures it covers all areas that have an impact on your weight.
Month 1 (Finding Your Fit)
You start taking the medication during the first month and meet your new health coach.
They will help you establish your goals and the action plan to take in the following months. The coach will help you change your nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management.
Month 2–3 (Forming Healthy Habits)
During these months, you work closely with your coach to help you replace your old habits with those that will help you lose weight and keep it off.
In case you are taking medication, your doctor will determine if you need to have your medication changed or if there needs to be a modification in the dosage.
You may start noticing weight loss and other non-scale victories, like having more energy throughout the day.
Month 4–6 (Found Your Way)
Continue to work on creating lifestyle changes. While you might not text your coach as frequently, you might still struggle in certain areas of your life. Here you might set new goals or work on ways for you to reach your goal.
Besides seeing weight loss improvements, you also might notice changes in your bloodwork (reduced glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels).
Month 7+ (Hello, Confidence)
Here, you learn the importance of having a healthy gut, how to improve your sleep, and how your hormones can affect your results (and learn how to manage them).
Here, you might not text your coach so frequently since now you have included lifestyle changes that help keep the weight off.
Found Weight Loss Features
So, this Found weight loss review has thoroughly covered how the program works. But what about the features? How can they benefit you?
Stuggle With Diets?
If you fail after every restrictive diet, this program can help. It doesn’t encourage strict dieting. It promotes long-lasting results that work with what you have and, most importantly, what you want to work on.
Having a coach can help you stay on track. You can learn which foods are right for you and your goals, and provide daily motivation to keep you on the right path.
Always Hungry?
If the problem for you is that you’re constantly hungry, the doctors can provide you with a hunger suppressant to make the journey a lot easier.
Lacking Support or Guidance?
If you’re not so keen on medication, the health coach can provide you feedback on which foods you can include to help you feel fuller.
On the other hand, if you don’t have a strong support group, the Facebook community can help you get that support you’re missing at work or home.
Having people going through the same process as you always makes things easier. More than that, discussing and acknowledging your own emotions in a safe place can help you meet your weight loss goals.
You can share your successes and struggles or search for any tips or recommendations regarding a specific topic.
Difficulty Sleeping or Getting To Sleep?
Finally, if one of your troubles is poor sleep, one of the program’s benefits is that the coaches teach you strategies to improve it.
Sleep plays a crucial part in weight loss, so it is important to pay attention to this factor.
Found mobile app
The Found weight loss app is available to download in the App Store or Google Play Store. Here, you’ll be able to reach to your coach, the coach can provide feedback based on what you share, log in your routine, and you can keep track of your progress.
Additionally, you can share your meals, mood, sleep, movement, medication, and any other factor that might affect weight loss.
It also allows you to create reminders to take medications, log your meal, or add your daily weight in.
As you can see, it is a very complete app.

Real Found Weight Loss Reviews
There are a lot of pros (as well as some cons) to the Found Weight Loss Program. But, what do the people that have tried the service have to say?
Here are some Found weight loss reviews from their website:
“Found has helped me lose weight and gain my confidence back. I’m getting back to my old self again. Going through cancer treatments actually made me gain 30 pounds because of the steroids and bed rest. I’m feeling great now.” – Tabatha
“Found is a good program if you need accountability. The team works with you to find the right meds and your coach keeps you motivated with weekly health tips and accountability. That being said, you have to put forth effort. This is not a program where you take a pill and melt away. You need to WANT to change and be committed to it. So if you really want a change…. This is for you. “ – Christina
Here’s a Found RX weight loss review, if you’re more curious about the medication aspect:
“The doctor got in contact with me yesterday a few hours after I filled out my intake form. She had some follow up questions before she prescribed anything. I sent those answers in and she prescribed bupropion and naltrexone. I had a question about the medications that I sent to her and she got back to me within an hour. I saw when signing up that some of the possible medications are metformin, topiramate, naltrexone, phentermine, bupropion and a few others. In another forum I was on previously when looking into Found, some people did have to send in blood work results before being prescribed anything. I did not have to. Others waited longer than a few hours to hear from a doctor. For some it was a few days. One person in a different forum said they were denied medication because their BMI was too low..” – IntoTheMists

Found vs. Calibrate Weight Loss
Both Found and the Calibrate are excellent programs for a lifelong wellness journey. However, what are the real differences between them?
Characteristic | Found | Calibrate |
Holistic Approach | Yes | Yes |
Prescription Medication | Yes | Yes |
Pricing | RX Plan – $99 to $149 per month & Wellness Plan – $49 | $135 per month (minimum of one year stay) |
Health Coaching | Yes | Yes |
Nutritional Education | Yes | Yes |
While they are very similar, Found wins this one
It has the lowest price ($49 per month), there’s no commitment or minimum stay, and you don’t have to use any medication to reach your goals.
Since I prefer a more natural approach to weight loss, I would first recommend this approach before trying any medication.
Found Pricing Plans
Found is a month-to-month payment service that you can opt to cancel at any time. However, if you decide to purchase it for several months, there is a reduction in the price.
Found Rx
The Rx Path has three different options depending on the commitment you want to make. If you want to have it monthly, it costs $149 per month.
On the other hand, if you make a three-month commitment, it costs $129 per month, and a six-month commitment costs $99 per month.
Found Wellness
If you don’t want medication, you can opt for the Found Wellness Paths, which has a lower price of $49 per month with a monthly commitment.
There is no three or six-month commitment package.

How to Get Started with Found
The Step-by-Step Sign-Up Process
To get started, you need to sign up and take Found’s quiz to find the appropriate plan for you.
In the survey, you get standard questions like sex, weight, height, age, and some questions to learn your history regarding weight loss.
Based on the quiz answers, they will determine if you are fit to do the Wellness Path or the Rx Path.
When you have answered everything, a doctor reaches out to you to determine if you need medication, which type, and the dosage.
You then receive Found diet advice in the form of nutrition guides. These help you determine the right portions for you and your goals.
Getting Started
After the doctor’s evaluation (if you are on the Rx Path), you follow the same journey as someone in the Wellness Path.
You get a message from your new coach. They introduce themselves, and you talk about your goals and expectations.
One of the positive things they have is that they don’t encourage constant weigh-ins. You only weigh yourself every Wednesday.
While some coaches might take a couple of hours to respond, there are some cases where the people get an answer back in a couple of days. It all depends on each coach.
