Let’s meet some of them one by one.
First, we have the headliner, caffeine. The caffeine comes from green coffee bean extract, which we’ve seen touted everywhere as a weight-loss tool.
In fact, some companies went a little too far in claiming green coffee bean extract could help you lose weight.
As far as I’m aware, Java Burn isn’t hinging all of our hopes on this one extract. One reason it’s included is for the relatively mild caffeine boost, which we already know gives us energy and suppresses appetite.
Each serving of Java Burn contains 200 mg of green coffee bean extract. It’s hard to say precisely how much caffeine this would add to your coffee. But it likely isn’t more than 10%-20% caffeine.
The other reason is that green coffee bean extract contains an acid we’ll talk about next.
Chlorogenic acid is an antioxidant found in green coffee beans. We don’t get this acid from the regular coffee we drink because most of it is destroyed during roasting.
We’re awaiting more research on the benefits of chlorogenic acid.
However, studies already find that “chlorogenic acid has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, anti-dyslipidemia, antidiabetic, and antihypertensive properties, which can serve for the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome and associated disorders.”
Basically, it does what any good antioxidant does – promote excellent health.
When you’re in the best possible health, your metabolism will respond to “triggers” (like diet and exercise) differently. Therefore, it may help with weight loss, but only as part of a healthy lifestyle.
In fact, chlorogenic acid is primarily found in fruits and vegetables. If you eat a plant-based diet, you’ll be getting plenty of this potent compound.
Chromium is an essential mineral that may help us regulate our blood sugar. People with Type 2 diabetes are often known to have low chromium levels.
There are 20 mcgs of chromium in every serving of Java Burn. That accounts for approximately half of the recommended daily value.
I appreciate that the company didn’t include higher doses of chromium. There are doubts as to how bioavailable supplemental chromium is.
Especially when we’re talking about chromium chloride, the form found in Java Burn.
Overall, chromium is nice to have here, but you’re still probably better off eating foods naturally high in chromium, like shellfish and broccoli.
Oh, and maybe some red wine, too.
L-carnitine is an amino acid that’s alleged to help us burn fat. Specifically, it helps us use fat to create energy. This is why you will see it included in many of the protein powders and supplements athletes prefer.
Your body makes L-carnitine naturally, but higher levels indicate a more active metabolism. It’s also available in red meat, but given that red meat isn’t incredibly heart-healthy, many prefer to supplement.
There’s 100 mg of L-carnitine in each Java Burn packet. This is a relatively modest amount, which again, I like. Lots of supplement makers megadose you on ingredients to drive the price up. Meanwhile, it isn’t even certain that you could absorb it all.
Like L-carnitine, L-theanine is an amino acid. There are two critical differences between the two.
First, L-theanine’s food sources come from plants. L-carnitine might be high in steak, but L-theanine lives inside mushrooms, tea leaves, and even coffee.
Second, we have the effects. L-theanine is a clean energy source that helps you focus. However, it’s also known to reduce anxiety. It may be even more effective at managing blood pressure than caffeine.
This is a huge benefit if you’re worried about getting too jittery from an energizing product.

Green Tea Extract

- Not the best for those sensitive to caffeine. If you typically avoid caffeine, Java Burn can cause sleeplessness, especially if taken later in the day.
- You shouldn’t take it if you’re breastfeeding. New moms are among the most eager to lose weight, but I’d sit this one out or speak to a doctor first.
- It doesn’t contain the most bioavailable form of chromium. I mentioned this in my ingredient breakdown. I think the form in Java Burn will have some benefit, but it could be a little better.
What are the side effects of Java Burn?
With any stimulant, there are potential side effects. Namely, nervousness and restlessness from the caffeine. Many will find that green tea and L-theanine reduces their chances of experiencing nervousness from caffeine.
Still, if you have insomnia or an anxiety disorder, I’d think carefully about using Java Burn.
Also, Java Burn doesn’t recommend its product to anyone under age 18.
